Do you have a Dream?

The first step of turning any dream into a reality is getting a clear picture of what it is you really want.  Even if you’re not sure what you want to do or you have a bunch of ideas to choose from, it all starts with creativity and implementing action. Open your heart and mind and the open doors are sure to follow. Are you ready to discover your true potential? The following suggestions are designed to get you on the right track to turning your “dreams into a reality”.

Say “Yes” Be open to invitations or activities you might normally decline, whether personal or professional, lays the groundwork for the forward thinking process you need to make any change. Sometimes not doing something that makes you uncomfortable is really just an easy way to maintain life as it is, it’s safer, right? But the goal here is to help you start seeing things in a new way, meet different people, do something out of your comfort zone, and to have unexpected experiences that will lead you toward success, one baby step at a time.

Action Steps: Start saying “yes” today. Accept an invitation, idea or suggestion that normally you would have said “no” to. This could mean getting up 15 minutes earlier each day or wearing a colour you wouldn’t normally wear.

“Be Uncomfortable” Yes, I said “be uncomfortable”! The more you can step out of your comfort zone, the faster you will become comfortable with the idea of turning your dream into a reality.

Action Steps: Do something that makes you uncomfortable this week. For instance, tell someone about an idea you have without worrying about their reaction, make some phone calls to prospective clients, or share a secret with someone.  Using fear, doubt and uncertainty will help you move forward and boost your confidence.

“Inner thoughts should become outer actions” Write down your dreams, goals and aspirations and most importantly the steps you think you need to take to accomplish them.  If you do not have a map, how are you going to get to your destination? Perhaps a “Vision Board”, if you can see it you can believe it!

Action Steps: Get organized. Put a plan in place that you will actually follow. Small steps can lead to big results.

“Find inspiration” Everyone needs a mentor or a role model; it’s normal to look up to people who have accomplished amazing things.
Action Steps:  Find and/or research someone who inspires you or has a story you could follow.  How did they get started? How did they become successful? How have they stayed successful? You might be surprised at how little successful people actually knew about their business before getting into it. They relied on hard work, timing, creativity and learning – just like you can and will!

“Get Help & Support” Did you know that you do not have to do everything on your own!  Ask for help, suggestions and ideas from those around you that you trust, respect and value.

Action Steps: Find a couple of people with whom you can check in with on a weekly basis and use them as a sounding board for ideas. Also, ask them for their input and ideas and make each other accountable.

Happy Dreams!
