SHED THE STRESS

We have all heard about the effects of stress (not pretty).  It can effect your body, mind, spirit, relationships and simply your life! So we thought we would share with you ideas and things you can do to help alleviate some of the stress in your life.

If you were to ask a dozen people to define stress, or explain what causes stress for them, or how stress affects them, you would likely get 12 different answers to each of these questions. The reason for this is that there is no definition of stress that everyone agrees on, what is stressful for one person may be pleasurable or have little effect on others and we all react to stress differently.  So it is important that you listen to your body and watch for the signs.

HERE IS A COUPLE OF GREAT 5 MINUTE STRESS BUSTERS

If you are siting down, stop what you are doing, sit straight, head up, shoulders back and then drop or push them down (what alot of people don't realize is that most people lift and fold in their shoulders when they are stressed) towards the floor, close your eyes, slow down your breathing and focus on each breathe.  Inhale slowly through your nose for the count of 5 and hold for the count of 5, now slowly let your breath out through your mouth again for the count of 5 or making sure that you have pushed all the air out, repeat 5 times!  Now you are ready to tackle the world again!

If you are on the move, stop what you are doing, find a place to yourself (even a bathroom stall, if there are no other options). Stand tall, shoulders back, carefully and slowly bring chin down towards your chest and hold for 5 seconds, now lift up and tilt head to the left just until you feel a slight pulling in your neck/shoulder muscle and hold for 5 seconds, come back to the center with your head up and then tilt your head to the right just until you feel a slight pulling in your neck/shoulder muscle and hold for 5 seconds, come back to the center and repeat this process 3 times.  You should now feel a sense of renewal!
